Location

Haven on my the Hill can be found on the outskirts of Lalandusse, midway between the Bastide town of Eymet and the town of Castillonnès. Population of around 180. It has a local cafe/bar where a menu de jour will cost you around 12€ for a 3 course meal. Evenings they serve a large selection of homemade pizza’s as well as the usual bar drinks. Very friendly place, large eating area at the rear of the bar. As with villages it has a church and Maire Office.

Shops and restaurants can be found within a 10 min drive to Castillonnès with its Peppercorn tower shops and boasts a cinema that shows English films. The Bastide town of Issigeac is well worth a visit with its many shops, restaurants  and Sunday Market. Free parking.

The Bastide of Eymet with its Thursday market, cafe, bars, pizzeria, restaurants, chemist and shops. The square is steeped with great architecture, set around the sides are many restaurants, bars, café’s and shops. Well worth a visit especially on market day. Free parking.
Castillonnès is a small French village located in the south west of France- and located in the department of the Lot-Garonne – the region of Aquitaine.
The Bastide of Castillonnès, was founded in 1259 by Alphonse de Poiters. The central square with its traditional arcades and a covered market hall which has a charming “pepper pot” clock tower. The Town Hall is located in the beautifully restored medieval chateau, originally a tithe barn and is now the local governor’s house which has a beautiful renaissance style courtyard.
Remnants of the old walls are visible as well as the vestiges of an old chateau, two medieval gate posts remain, a well and several elegant 18th century houses.

The church, 13th century, is well worth a visit. It has a baroque- style alter piece and non –figurative stain glass windows. Outside the village is an Iron Age tumulus.
The touristque de Castilonnes can be located – 71 Grande Rue.  Opens  9.30- 12.30 — 2pm- 7pm Tuesday morning, Wednesday, Thursday , Friday, Saturday, Closed Sundays and Public Holidays
